New Releases for October 25th

This edition of “New Releases” is going to be a bit shorter. I’m not quite in the habit of doing these yet and I nearly forgot this week’s altogether!  Here are some of this week’s new releases.

General Fiction

The Whole Town’s Talking by Fannie Flagg – Elmwood Springs, Missouri, is a small town like any other, but something strange is happening at the cemetery. Still Meadows, as it’s called, is anything but still.
** Whoops! Looks like I read this date wrong yesterday. Amazon is now saying this one won’t be out until November 29th. Sorry for any confusion!**

Mysteries/Thrillers

The Whistler by John Grisham – What happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe? It’s rare, but it happens. Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. She is a lawyer, not a cop, and it is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct. After nine years with the Board, she knows that most problems are caused by incompetence, not corruption.  (Non-Cozy)

Eggnog Murder by Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis and Barbara Ross – A trilogy of short stories/novellas that center around Christmas and eggnog. (Cozy)

History

The Fleet at Flood Tide: America at Total War in the Pacific, 1944-1945 by James D. Hornfischer – An unprecedented account of the monumental Pacific War campaign that brought the U.S. Navy to the apex of its strength and supremacy and established the foundation for America to become a dominant global superpower.

The Earth is Weeping: The Epic Story of the Indian Wars for the American West by Peter Cozzens – Bringing together a pageant of fascinating characters including Custer, Sherman, Grant, and a host of other military and political figures, as well as great native leaders such as Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull, Geronimo, and Red Cloud, The Earth is Weeping is the fullest account to date of how the West was won…and lost.

Children’s Books (Picture Book, Fiction & Non-Fiction)

Owl Diaries #5: Warm Hearts Day by Rebecca Elliott – In book #5, it’s almost Warm Hearts Day! Everyone is busy making gifts for their loved ones. Eva LOVES crafting, so she creates all sorts of fun gifts and treats for her friends. She is excited to give out her homemade gifts at the big party at the Old Oak Tree. But then Eva realizes she forgot to make gifts for her family! Will she be able to make the gifts in time?

Officer Panda: Sky Detective by Ashley Crowley – When Officer Panda finds some strange clues on the police helicopter runway, he takes flight to solve the case.

Amazing Creatures: Maned Wolf by Tanya Turner – The Maned Wolf looks much like other members of the Canidae family such as wolves, dogs, foxes, etc., but it’s none of these. What is it then? To put it plainly, a Maned Wolf is a Maned Wolf. It is the only species of its kind, so it’s really one of a kind. If you want to know more about this unique creature, keep reading. This book will take you into the wonderful world of Maned Wolves.
