Review – 4.0 out of 5 stars

While I love this series in general, and enjoyed reading this one, I did feel that this one’s mystery was just a bit on the weak side.

The characters are still the ones that I’ve come to love. They’re quirky and funny and a joy to have around. Being around Imogen, Hank, Iggy, Maple, and the rest always brighten up a day.

We’re still set in the Badlands. It’s an interesting land to be in, a whole different culture and setting from what our group is used to. It’s interesting to see them work to adapt to their new surroundings, not knowing whether or not they’ll ever get back to Bijou Mer.

When it came to the mystery itself, while it was entertaining, it seemed less important to the all-around story arc than the mysteries have in the past. Some important interpersonal things happen between members of our little group during this book and those overshone the mystery, at least in my opinion. Now, being that I LIKE the characters and was happy to read about the interpersonal things, it wasn’t that big of a deal to me, but if you were just looking for the mystery, I’m afraid this one might disappoint.

I still recommend the book, especially if you’ve read and liked others in the series. There’s some pretty heavy stuff that happens between members of the group so rush out and buy this latest installment so you can be up-to-date on what’s happening!
