I’ve been participating in the GoodReads Challenge for the past 3 years (including this year).  The first year I participated, 2014, I came to the challenge a little late in the year (I think in summer sometime), so I only challenged myself to read 65 books by the end of the year. At first I didn’t think I’d succeeded because only 58 were listed, but then I realized (after Jan 1) that there were some I had forgotten to add, so that took me up to my goal of 65.

Last year, I set a goal of 120 books and I surpassed it and read 134 books during the year. For 2016, I set my goal back at 65 because I wanted to read 65 new-to-me books. I reread a lot. When life is stressful, I only want to read things that I’ve read before so there are no surprises. I decided I wanted to set a goal of a certain number of books that didn’t include all my re-reading. I managed to finish a month ahead of time. I was also attempting to not make them all cozy mysteries. They’re not all cozies, but I wasn’t as successful at getting as much diversity as I wanted this year.
